Key Characteristics:

• Coloration: Males are easily recognized by their stunning coloration. They have a vivid striped body with a bright blue or stripe running from their head, down the dorsal fin, and often toward the tail, amd a red and orange bottom fin. This bold contrast makes them one of the most eye-catching of the peacock cichlids. Females, on the other hand, are much less colorful, typically appearing duller in comparison.
• Body Shape: Typical of the Cichlid species, the Taiwan Reef Cichlid has an elongated body with a streamlined appearance. The fins are well-developed, especially in males.
• Size: Males can grow up to 12-15 cm (5-6 inches), while females are slightly smaller, usually around 8-10 cm (3-4 inches).

Care Requirements:

• Diet: These cichlids are omnivorous but prefer protein-rich diets. In the wild, they feed on small invertebrates and microorganisms found in the substrate. In the aquarium, they do well on a diet of high-quality cichlid pellets, supplemented with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. Avoid overfeeding to prevent health issues.
