This listing is for one Platy,

The Platy stands out as a delightful and serene freshwater fish known for its hardiness and active nature. This small yet attractive fish is suitable for hobbyists of all experience levels, making it one of the most popular choices in the fishkeeping industry. Platies come in various captivating colors, adding visual appeal to any aquarium. With a simple agenda focused on eating and breeding, Platies are lively tank residents, readily consuming algae and exhibiting a constant willingness to reproduce.

Similar to guppies, Platies are live-bearing fish, and their breeding habits are remarkably easy, often a matter of "when" rather than "if" due to their perpetual readiness. Female Platies can store sperm for up to six months, remaining almost consistently pregnant and giving birth to 10-40 fry every 4 to 6 weeks, with larger broods of up to 80 fry being possible. While the parents typically refrain from consuming the fry, it is advisable to place the pregnant female in a separate tank or breeding net/box for birthing before reintroducing her to the main tank.

Distinguishing between male and female Platies is relatively straightforward by examining their anal fins. A fanshaped anal fin indicates a female, while a long, flat, and pointed anal fin characterizes a male. Females are generally larger than males, although exceptions exist.

In their natural habitat, wild Platies sustain themselves on algae and insects, providing essential fiber. Therefore, ensuring an adequate fiber intake is crucial when transitioning Platies to a new aquarium. Platies should be fed once or twice a day, avoiding overfeeding. If uneaten food persists after a few minutes, it's an indication of overfeeding. While a flake food diet is suitable, supplementing it with live or frozen food, such as brine shrimp and bloodworms, enhances their nutritional intake. Opting for flake foods with vegetable supplements is also recommended.

Recommended tank mates for Platies include Guppies, Swordtails, Mollies, certain Tetras, Rasboras, Rainbows, Danios, Gouramis, Bristlenose Plecos, and Scavenger Catfish.
