The Spotted Blue Eye (Pseudomugil gertrudae) is a small and attractive freshwater fish native to northern Australia and Papua New Guinea. It is known for its vibrant blue eyes and delicate body markings, making it a popular choice for nano tanks and peaceful community aquariums.

The body of the Spotted Blue Eye is transparent with a pale yellow or golden hue, adorned with distinctive black spots, especially on its fins. Males are more brightly colored than females, with larger, more elaborate fins. Despite their small size, these fish are active swimmers and display interesting social behaviors, particularly during courtship when males spread their fins in a beautiful display.

Spotted Blue Eyes prefer a well-planted tank with plenty of hiding spots and gentle water flow. They thrive in schools of 6 or more, which also helps reduce stress and bring out their best colors and natural behaviors. These fish are peaceful and can be kept with other small, non-aggressive species. 

This small but vibrant fish is perfect for nano-tanks and will add a lively and colorful dynamic to any peaceful aquarium setup.
