Gold Molly

The Gold Nugget Mini Molly, a member of the Poeciliidae pamphorichthys family, originates from the Amazon River basin in Brazil. This peaceful live-bearing fish, known for its ease of care, comes in various color, fin, and tail variations, making it a favorite among aquarists, whether beginners or advanced.

Although generally peaceful, Mini Mollies may display signs of aggression when crowded or surrounded by aggressive tank mates. Hence, it's essential to provide a sufficiently spacious tank and choose compatible tank mates.

It is recommended to keep them in groups of four or more, as they naturally form cohesive units. Having mostly females in the group is advisable, as males may exhibit harassment, particularly triggered by reproduction.

Sexing and breeding Mini Mollies are relatively straightforward tasks. Females can be identified by their anal fin, which spreads into a fan, while males have a pointier anal fin. Females are generally larger, and pregnant individuals exhibit visibly swollen bellies.

As omnivores, Mini Mollies consume a varied diet, including commercially prepared flake foods, algae, frozen bloodworms, tubifex, and brine shrimp.

Ideal tank mates for Mini Mollies encompass Guppies, Platies, Mollies, certain Tetras, Rasboras, Rainbows, Danios, Gouramis, Bristlenose Plecos, and Scavenger Catfish.
