Neon Green Rasbora

Adult Size: Maxes out at just 1.5 to 2 cm

Color: Shimmering neon green with a translucent body. Their bright coloration becomes even more vivid in well-lit planted tanks. 20L minimum (bigger is better in groups)

Temperature: 22–28°C

pH Range: 6.0 – 7.5

Water Hardness: Soft to moderately hard

Tank Setup:

Origin: The Neon Green Rasbora is native to Thailand and Myanmar, particularly around the Ranong and Phang Nga provinces in southwestern Thailand

Behavior & Tank Mates:

• Temperament: Peaceful and shy

• Social Needs: Must be kept in groups of at least 6–8 — they feel safest in a school and display better behavior and color

• Good Tank Mates:

  • Other small rasboras (like chili or ember)

  • Pygmy corydoras

  • Otocinclus

  • Peaceful shrimp species

  • Avoid large or aggressive fish

• Feeding Type: Omnivore

• Preferred Foods:

  • Micropellets

  • Crushed flake foods

  • Live/frozen micro foods like baby brine shrimp, daphnia, or micro worms

• Their small mouths require fine or powdered food

• Egg scatterers

• Breeding in captivity is possible but tricky due to tiny size

• Requires soft, acidic water and fine-leaved plants or spawning mops

• Adults may eat the eggs, so separation is needed
