We recommend getting these if you do not have them. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"base\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eShould I order livestock together with the tank?\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003eYou can order snails and plants together with the tank without an issue, however for shrimp and fish it is recommended that you \"cycle\" the tank first. \u003cbr\u003eThe filter needs to establish itself before it can support a lot of livestock, so to let it cycle; you just need to set up your tank and keep the filter on for a week or two as you would normally. \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/sydney-aquascapes.com.au\/search?q=startup+bacteria\" title=\"Startup Bacteria\"\u003eStartup bacteria\u003c\/a\u003e is designed to quick-start this process, however it is still recommended to cycle the tank even with your startup bacteria. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"base\"\u003eFor this reason, we recommend setting up your tank and plants first, then placing a second order for fish and\/or shrimp a week or two after your tank has been set up.\u003cbr\u003eWith that said, one or two small shrimp or fish would usually be fine, but do so at your own risk.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"base\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSetting up the tank:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul class=\"base\"\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eUnpack the tank from the box and separate the plants, soil and other parts.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePlace the tank in your desired location.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"base\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSet up the filter:\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul class=\"base\"\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eRemove the filter parts out of the box.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eUsing the diagram on the side of the filter box, assemble the spray bar and the bottom pipe section of the filter.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eAttach the bottom pipe section to the pump and then attach the pump to the top of the section in the lid where it goes. Thread the power chord through the hole on the edge of the lid and attach the spray bar to the top of the filter. \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWhen water is filled up to the top of the pump, plug it in.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"base\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eApplying any soil and plants: \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul class=\"base\"\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eEvenly spread un-washed aquasoil over the base of the aquarium.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eUse a scraper or ruler to level the surface, or if desired create gradients.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSlowly fill your aquarium with water until the water level is about 3-4cm above the soil. This makes planting easier.\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eBegin planting your aquarium.
